Confessions of a Slacking Medstudent.

Boredom rears its ugly head; peer pressure comes full force and here I am again on another (possibly, hopefully not) futile attempt on having a blog up (and running--you know what they say about keeping blogs).

Okay so maybe hoping for 30,000 hits a day is too much to ask for--but no harm in hoping, no? Which got me thinking (for about 5 minutes or so--dont wanna waste my time during the holidays, see) on what I could write about which was not done already by the gazillion or so writers of the blogosphere--to cut the messy 5 minutes in my brain short, i decided 300k on medschool oughta be used wisely.

As blog material.

Well I'm on holiday now so unless I'm obliged to write about on the things I read on my textbooks (please, spare yourselves the boredom) i pretty much have nothing to write about on my experiences in medschool. I could, however write on my holiday activities (which involves remaining stationary with my eyes shut) but that would be irrelevant and, not to mention BORING.

But ah, another brilliant idea has crossed my mind (I surprise myself at times) so i'll spend the next few posts or so reminiscing (notice I did not use the word tell, simply because no one would listen anyway--at least for now) about my past 5 weeks in medschool.

Well here goes nothing.

First day was pretty meh in my opinion. So yeah we met some people high up goving some prep talk about self-study and all the bull associated with it. But that wasn't the fun part yet. So there we were all dressed up in those cool labcoats (i shall therefore refer to them as robes--just because i can) and ready to take a variation of the hippocratic oath. Well halfway thru it (with my palm raised and the other holding the sheet of paper) something possesed me to release my hold on the paper and well, it flew away (it happened in front of a whole bunch of parents, mind). and after that we took our photos for the ID card (mine invariably looked like an indian).

the days in between were somewhat a blur now that i think about it, but i choose to believe i had fun. Cliques are of course, unavoidable as always and i cannot help but think i have (chosen?) one of the most dysfunctional one--pretty much like those in Mean Girls-- we call ourlselves TeamSlut cuz well, we're all sluts at heart. It started of at the lunch table where one of the girls was providing our table with ample amounts of gossip--so one of my friend started calling her an "Infoslut" since she knows all kinds of everything about everthing and got carried away. Hence we have him (Shaun) as "Queenslut", Mei Yan (my slavedriver of a housemate) as "Animeslut", Ee Jin and Sue Anne (Mei Yan's BFFs) as "Dumbslut" and "Fatslut" respectively, Eunice (there seem to be a glut of Eunices in my medschool but oh well. She's stuck to Shaun as much as Mei Yan is to me) as "Oldslut" and lastly there's me as the "Boyslut" (don't ask why).

well there's also "Seniorslut(s) 1,2 and 3" but since theyre probably not gonna be featured much anyway we'll skip them until they become significant.

Well I could go on but my phalanges are about to fall right off. Tomorrow, maybe?
