Embryology is getting onto my nerves but at the same time I cannot help but feel impressed--the human body is never short on surprises. Even at cellular level, the coordination and intricacy is simply fascinating; how cells are able to orientate themselves for implantation or how they differentiate from simple cells into complex organs like the brain. At the same time, I suppose it is annoying as well knowing how humans could be so confusing even before birth.
Ah, speaking of which, I am reminded of the human reproductive organ. Things are just not what it seems in the human genitalia and studying it actually enabled me to realize a parallel between the unmentionables and the difference between the sexes. Take the manhood, for an example: while it seems complicated on the outside, things actually are very simple on the inside--the structure, the physiology. On the other hand, don't be fooled by the apparently simple design of the women's privates: it is, to put it simply, a huge mess to study what with all the dangly bits (pun not intended) and stuff inside which is in another realm to remember. The point is, its very much like how a male and a female's mind work--a male, being a simple being and a female; complicated.
Feh, still that does not detract from the fact that there's just TOO much to learn at too short a time. The fact that more than half of the people in my batch studies for ungodly hours everyday does little to ease the competitive streak in my intake. And then there were the know-it-alls and the know-nothing-at-alls which would get on my nerves ever so occsionally...
All part and parcel of taking this course, I suppose. But all's well at the moment--that is until exams are here.
